Title
Estelle The Evil Stepsister of Cinderella Painting by Tiago Azevedo Pop Surrealism Art
Artist
Tiago Azevedo
Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
This painting is part of a series called Visions, because they are a group of images and faces that just come to my mind and my purpose after that is to bring them to reality in the most accurate way that I can.
The first image that you can see here is the fictional character of the fairytale Cinderella called the evil stepsister that in this case, I named Estelle because there is no reference to her actual name in the original story of The Brothers Grimm
“This wife brought two daughters into the house with her. They were beautiful, with fair faces, but evil and dark hearts.”
Here you can see her illuminating from within as her personality shines through. Her glance is assertive yet glazed with the fragility to allure the viewer.
In this pop-surrealist painting, Estelle is depicted at the center of the canvas as a strategically beautiful girl, undressed and in a regal pose. Her hesitant expression and harshness of the black setting are meant to contrast with her skin tones.
The painting conveys the inspiration of folk art, all the beauty, and originality of the German fairytale people, telling the viewer about world magic.
The painting displays the delicate glazes, warm palette, and fluid brushwork that is combined with a popular subject familiar to generations of viewers that grew up with this enchanting story.
